Do I have AuDHD?

Category

Hook

"Walking and Talking" - I need to know if I have AuDHD, that is, having ADHD and Autism, because I have never been tested or diagnosed and I have a good reason why it is easier to get your opinion in the comments than going to a doctor and that is because I am a British Born, Chinese, Vietnamese person living in Japan without sufficient Japanese language skills to really explain everything that I want to in detail to a professional and therefore I am looking to Youtube to get some opinions and to share my story and experiences so here we are. I also want to understand the condition better because I have a feeling my son might have ADHD too and fortunately being a very patient and understand parent, I feel I am supporting and encouraging him right but you all can make sure I am equipped to do it even better than now.

High Level Video Summary

This will be the first video on a new channel I want to make about potentially living with AuDHD. I want it to be an exploration and view of my experiences in life and helping me to understand if the way I grew up, the thoughts I always had and why I felt so different, is because of this condition known as AuDHD and ultimately want to know if I did a good job to get to where I am in life. I still am twitchy and fidgety and overthink things but I want to share and get peoples opinions

Detailed Video Script

I will start by introducing why I made the channel and what I am trying to achieve out of it including arming myself with the knowledge to know if I actually have AuDHD, ADHD or Autism.

I will also explain how one of my motivations is to be able to raise my son appropriately in case he actually has a similar condition.

I want to understand the stigma of the condition, whether its better to get diagnosed or just monitor it.

I want to explain all the thoughts, experiences and hurdles I experienced in my life and whether AuDHD goes some way into explaining why I felt different than other people and have had a different path in life, but also why certain things seemed much easier than they should have been and why I have been able to get to where I am in this path of life.

It will be unedited so it will be real experienced with my real life thoughts and experiences, walking in Japan and talking, taken in 1 shot, raw and real and emotional.

I hope Youtube feeds me the right audiences and not too many toxic trolls.

I will be exploring why I was a natural target for gambling addiction. Why I became bored of school when I was too superior, then could not catch up.
Why my mind goes with a million thoughts a second, the best, the worst, the most disgusting and disturbing but also the most brilliant and innovative and how I have to drown out the bad thoughts instantly or else I get fatigued and burned out.

Why I build up promises to such an extent and expect really high standards. This is going to cover alot of things and I am keen to see how the Youtube world responds.

I think the strongest part of this idea is the honesty behind it. My only concern is that “Do I have AuDHD?” could make the video feel like you’re asking viewers to diagnose you. Maybe frame it more as “Could AuDHD explain my life?” and invite people to share similar experiences rather than give you a diagnosis.

I think both is good because I do actually want people to give their opinion on whether they think I have it because the audience are most likely people in the same situation or actually diagnosed already and know about the ins and outs

Yeah that makes sense. I think asking people whether they relate to your experiences or whether your story sounds familiar to diagnosed AuDHD viewers could actually create really good discussion. I’d just be a little careful with presenting the comments as a substitute for diagnosis, because people can have very similar traits for different reasons. Framing it as “this is my experience — does this resonate with you?” might give you the same engagement while keeping the video open-minded.

Yes, definitely get as much interaction as possible, although you might get a mix of support, clear helpful advice but possibly some toxic people who love to hate. Don't give them any attention and focus on the genuine people who will want to follow your story

The walking-and-talking format in Japan could actually work really well for this because it gives people something visually interesting while you tell a very personal story. I’d still think about having 3–4 clear topics you want to cover so the one-take style doesn’t become too rambling.

There are a lot of interesting ideas in here, but probably too many for one first video. Gambling addiction, school, intrusive thoughts, parenting, diagnosis and feeling different could each almost be separate videos. I’d make the first one mainly about your story and why you’ve started questioning whether you have AuDHD.

I’d definitely watch this if you focus heavily on specific moments from your life rather than explaining AuDHD in general. For example, a story about doing extremely well at school and then suddenly losing interest is much more memorable than saying you struggled with boredom.

I like that you’re not trying to present yourself as an expert. I’d lean into that even more. Something like “I don’t know if I have AuDHD, but these are the things that made me start wondering” feels very relatable and also gives viewers a reason to follow the channel as you learn more.

Yes indeed, that it the kind of vibe I am going for. But I think the title needs to be shorter and snappier

The multicultural angle is interesting and could make this stand out. Being British-born Chinese/Vietnamese and living in Japan probably affects how you think about mental health, diagnosis and stigma. I’d bring that into the video earlier because it differentiates this from the many general ADHD/autism channels already on YouTube.

The personal exploration could make a strong first video, but I would change the promise from "tell me whether I have AuDHD" to "here is why I am finally exploring whether ADHD or autism may explain parts of my life." Viewers can share experiences and help you find questions to ask, but they cannot diagnose you from a video. Say that boundary near the start. It protects you from turning the comments into a yes/no vote based on a few traits. I would structure the walk around three parts: the patterns you have noticed, how they have affected daily life, and what you hope to learn next. End with a focused prompt such as, "If you sought an assessment as an adult abroad, what helped you prepare?" That should produce more useful comments than asking strangers for a diagnosis. I would also keep your son's situation separate and protect his privacy. You can say that parenting made you think more deeply about the topic, but avoid asking viewers to assess him. If you pursue answers for either of you, an English-speaking or bilingual qualified professional is a safer next step than comment consensus.

This sounds really good and I relate to it as someone who has ADHD. I do think awareness of it should be raised and you will get alot of supporters who want to follow your story and how you dealt with many situations with the way you think

I really appreciate you being open about this, and I think the language barrier you describe is an important part of the conversation. I completely understand why hearing from people with similar experiences could feel like a helpful first step. That said, I’d be a little cautious about asking viewers to tell you whether you have AuDHD. There’s a big difference between someone saying, “I experience this too” and someone being able to determine whether you have a clinical condition. YouTube comments obviously can’t provide that diagnosis, and I’d be especially careful about applying those conclusions to your son. I think the video could be even more valuable if you framed it as: “These are the experiences that have made me wonder whether I might have ADHD or autism. Have other people experienced something similar, and what helped you pursue an assessment?” That way, you can still learn from the community, hear other people’s experiences and potentially discover resources for navigating assessment in Japan, without putting the responsibility of diagnosis onto your viewers. I also think your experience as someone living between different cultures and dealing with a language barrier could make this a really interesting and useful conversation.

Being this honest and vulnerable can be tricky. It sounds like a wonderful video, and I think lots of people will find it helpful or something they can relate to. Please be careful while filming this; you mention that you can burn out, and this type of video could be emotionally draining.
