Video Title
I Tried Eating in Shanghai for 24 Hours with Only $10
Category
Cooking & FoodHook
I’ve got $10 to eat for an entire day in Shanghai. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and hopefully a few snacks — everything has to come out of the same budget. Let’s see how far $10 actually gets me.
High Level Video Summary
I’ll spend one full day eating in Shanghai with only a $10 food budget. I’ll start with a local breakfast, then try to make the money last through lunch, snacks and dinner. I’ll keep the remaining budget on screen throughout the video so we can see if I actually make it to the end of the day.
Detailed Video Script
Start the day with $10 and explain the rules — all food and drinks count, but transport doesn’t. For breakfast I’ll find something cheap and local, then work my way through lunch, an afternoon snack and dinner. After every stop I’ll show how much I spent and how much money I have left. I want to try proper Shanghai food rather than just buying the absolute cheapest thing possible. If there’s any money left at the end, I’ll use it for one final dessert or drink.
Target Audience
People who enjoy food, travel, China content and budget challenges.

Why will this video succeed?
Shanghai looks like an expensive modern city, so I think people will be curious whether $10 can actually cover a whole day of eating. The budget also gives the video a natural challenge because every meal makes the next one harder. There are lots of different foods we can show throughout the day, so it should stay visually interesting.

I Let Taxi Drivers Choose Everything I Eat for a Day
I’ll spend the whole day eating only at places recommended by taxi drivers. I’ll ask the first driver where they would personally go for breakfast, eat there, then get another taxi and ask that driver where I should go next. The goal is to see whether taxi drivers actually know the best local food in the city.

I’ll spend the day looking for non-Chinese food around Nanjing and try to eat something from as many different countries as possible. The interesting part is seeing what’s actually available here and how close it is to the food you’d get in the original country.
